Our achievements

To date, Soap Aid has achieved the following milestones and received the following support:soap

  • Gathered a Board of volunteer Directors who are industry experts (not for profit, legal, medical, marketing, fundraising, hotel, business advisory, environmental impact and finance).
  • Developed and rolled out a pilot collection program in Melbourne, Australia with Rotary International.
  • Developed relationships with leading hotels. Including Crown Promenade, The Langham, the Grand Hyatt and Quest Apartments for the collection of waste soap.
  • Received pro bono and in-kind support from a Melbourne, family-owned and run amenities company, Concept Amenities, to:
    • develop soap reprocessing protocols;
    • acquire Soap Aid specific manufacturing equipment;
    • reprocess and package over 470,000 bars of new, ready-to-use soap; and warehouse reprocessed soap.
  • Donated  almost 370,000 bars of soap to communities in Australia and overseas including:
    • 50,000 soap bars to support relief efforts in Fiji after Tropical Cyclone Winston;
    • a childcare centre in an indigenous community in the Northern Territory;
    • an orphanage in Cambodia; and
    • a community-run school with 100 students in Papua New Guinea.
  • Commenced a study on quantifiable carbon benefit and environmental impact of Soap Aid with pro bono assistance from The Carbon Reduction Institute.
  • Designed a scientific study to measure thehealth and social impact of Soap Aid to be conducted by Prof. Martyn Jeggo through the Geelong Centre of Emerging Infectious Diseases, Deakin University.
  • Developed sponsorship partnerships with Watermark Intellectual Asset Management,Riordan & Riordan Lawyers and Visy.
